I've lived in Dayton for the last fifteen years and just found out about this place a few months ago. Since then, I've been back every weekend and a few times during the week -- Wow!
The Original Pancake House is not just another breakfast, it's a gourmet breakfast at popular prices. The food isn't cheap, but it's a great value for what you get. The portions are huge, everything is made from scratch and it shows - the strawberries are fresh cut, the orange juice is squeezed on premises, and the homemade whipped cream is to die for. The crepes, waffles, and Omelets are fantastic. Instead of the usual flat omelets served elsewhere, these are oven baked and are more like an egg souffle (all six eggs of them!). If you want something special, try the Cherry Kijafa Crepes (made with tart cherries in a wonderful sauce) or the Apple Pancake (hard to describe, you'll just have to order it). Even the eggs and bacon are better! The servers tell me all of the eggs are cooked in clarified butter (used by all of the best chefs) and bacon is sugar cured and thick sliced (the best I've ever had by far).
Do yourself a favor - check this place out!
