I am 13 years old and from Wayzata, Minnesota. I have gone to Twiggs three times in the past year for highlights & a haircut. The first time was last July, when I was getting highlights for the first time. I asked for a caramel color, which is what I got. They turned ORANGE, and disappeared very quickly. I got highlights again in December along with side bangs and a trim. I brought in a picture of site-model Lauren Cyrus's side bangs to my stylist, Heather. She didn't cut them the right way, she cut them so girly. I wanted them edgy, layered, and large. I had to keep telling her I wanted them bigger and not so soft, but she kept telling me I couldn't because of my hairline?! My trim was great, and they really got all the ends off. That night I had all my friends come over for a sleepover. Only my best friend who came with me to get the highlights done knew I had gotten them. As for my other friends, they couldn't even tell, which honestly pissed me off because I have naturally medium brown hair, and I sort of EXPECT dirty blonde highlights to show up! The last time I got highlights, bangs, and a trim there was May 1. Again, I went to Heather. I wanted to have legitimately blonde hair this time. I showed her the picture of the bangs I wanted (just to see if she would DO them this time) & I needed to get my crappy split ends off. Instead of dyeing my hair, she decided to spend an hour and a half putting a billion highlights in. It took her fourty minutes to decide she was going to shampoo me. She also charged me $43 for a treatment, which DID work, but still. I spent about four hours there.
The whole thing was $300. A big rip-off if you ask me. The first week of May I had blonde hair. Now it's chestnut. Wtf? This hair dye is like magically changing. My best friend has redish-chestnut hair. We compared hair colors. The same. I DO NOT HAVE NATURALLY RED HAIR! I HAVE BROWN HAIR. Then in OTHER spots there is a random streak of bleach blonde.! I wanted an even color of dark blonde with some highlights of light light brown. This summer I am trying the Oscar Blandi salon in New York City.
Oh, & don't go here.
Pros: Good setting.
Cons: Conceited staff, takes FOREVER.
