I love trying places that get voted for having " The Best" of something. Recently, New Times pumped out their Best Of Series for 2010 ( which I love reading) and it's sister restaurant located in Lighthouse Point won Best Pizza. Could it be that I have the best pizza in Palm Beach/Broward less than 2 miles from my house? Well I had to judge this for myself. \r \r I remember when this place was DiSalvos. During that time, it looked very tired and run down. Well, I almost didn't recognize the restaurant when I drove up. It was totally remodeled. Inside, everything looked new with High Def. TVs on the walls and smiling faces all around me. What a nice vibe and interior. \r \r My server was Kathy and she was as friendly as can be. Just another EOM ( Employee of the Month) in my book. I ordered a large pizza with extra shrooms, to go. With I waited, I had a couple of beers at the bar, which like everything else inside, looked brand new. I noticed that it was alittle warm (temperature wise) inside the restaurant. The two wood burning ovens had to be a factor with that. They may have to tweak the AC a bit. The place was packed but I could tell something was missing. Music. I suggest they play some form of background music. Maybe I'm weird, but background music kinda sets a flavor/tone and when it's missing the sounds of dishes clanging, people talking seem more prevalent. \r \r I got my pizza (see pic) and happily drove home. As I was driving the pizza was mocking me by spreading it's awesome aroma from the box:) I was thinking, I'm gonna tear you up when I get home...lol. The pizza looked as good as it tasted. Not bad pizza. Think Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza without the charcoal taste and burnt flavor. I would prefer this pizza over Anthony's. Now, is this the Best Pizza around? My answer is no, but it's pretty damn good. I plan on going back so I can dine in instead of doing take out. My opinion maybe swayed if I eat the pizza ASAP, we will see. \r \r Please tell Kathy and whoever owns the place that they need a Happy Hour! Remember to tell them Dan sent you and Stay Hungry! more
