Russian spa hidden in the heart of Everett 5/28/2010

Right in the center of the downtown Everett shopping district there's a Russian Banya (spa). It's downstairs from the FGM church and the entrance may be a bit hard to spot at first, but when you find it, it is worth it! Inside is a hot dry sauna, a steam room, a cold plunge pool, and a jacuzzi spa. All in a warm, elegantly modern environment. The 11-to-3 half-price entry makes it a great lunchtime getaway for a quick and relaxing Banya session. If you've never been to a Banya before, bring a swimsuit and a knit cap. Change into your swimsuit in the large Mens or Womens locker room, take a quick shower, put on your cap, then go into the dry sauna or the steam room. After five or ten minutes, exit the sauna and jump into the cold plunge. Yes, the water is between 35 and 40 degrees F. Jump in, let your body shed the sauna heat, then get out and relax for a few minutes on the many benches around the room. Now go back into the dry sauna or the steam room, and do it all over again! After a couple sessions you will feel a warm, relaxing feeling come over you, called the ""Banya High"". Downtown Banya is open til 11 PM so you can also go after work or after dinner and stay til late. About the only thing I would change would be to add a mid-temperature soaking pool. Downtown Banya: Go check it out! Pros: Great staff, long hours, half-price from 11 am to 3 pm more
