I frequent the Black Cow in Hamilton and it's a fave, but the one in Newburyprt leaves much to be desired and it looks as though I'm not the only customer who thinks so. yes it's got great views on the water and the inside is both airy / spacious and rustic / cozy. However on a Monday for lunch I went in with a book and got treated like a second class citizen for coming in alone. One hostess tried to seat me in the middle of the floor (awkward) and when I asked for one of the two empty tables with waterviews ( one being a booth) she said she couldn't seat a party of one at a booth. okay fine but then I had to wait almost 30 minutes for the table to be bused while the hostesses giggled and chatted at their station. When they remembered I was waiting one hopped to. but service was painfully slow especially since this was a weekday lunch. my waitress never brought the bread to my table ( does dining alone mean servers can forego the niceties of bread baskets, recommendation and usual friendly small talk?). I ordered the burger medium rare and repeated it to the when the waitress asked me how I wanted it, when she daid theyd cook it however id like it and it came back Medium. ugh! when all was said and done i was there for over an hour and a half. not sure I'll ever come back to this one. Disappointing!
