I have very low expectations from doctors of today. I understand that there is a diabetes epidemic and that the offices of an endocrinologist are going to be very busy.
BUT there are some ridiculous things about this practice. Trying to get your blood results (blood lipids, HA1C, etc) is far too much work. Telephone them. Email them. Repeat once a day for a month and then if you are lucky you will get a 20 second telephone message with the results.
Ask a doctor about the rationale behind the use of certain medications? Why bother...You will need to sort through all of the information you can find on the internet and the reference libraries and hope that you can get educated in that way. A good pharmacist might help. This is a knee-jerk assembly line practice and I doubt that there are any better options out there.
The practice is run like an amateur hour at a nursery school. It's too bad that the stakes are much higher.
Pros: They actually exist
Cons: Slow, slip-shod service
