Not a pleasant experience 5/10/2010

Our family dines at this place about twice per year and the experience has been good in the past. My wife choose Outback for Mother's Day dinner. What a mistake on my part. I ordered a filet to be cooked medium well. My son and wife ordered the same meal (filet and crab legs). My steak was practically rare and my son's was overcooked. It took forever to flag the waitress down to talk about this. Everyone was practically through eating when she came back around. They returned the steak and charred it. The manager brought it back and i cut into it. I made a casual comment that it was very well done now. He asked if i wanted a new steak and i accepted. This whole process took a long time. We have little ones and they were starting to act up. Everyone was through eating and waiting on me. By this time, i was not even hungry any more after salad and bread. They brought the steak and it was as rare as the first one. I said nothing and ate about half of it. Moreover, the mashed potatoes that we all ordered were very dry as if they were sitting under heat for a long, long time. Now the best part: I am writing this review in between trips to the bathroom this morning (next morning). Have been in there 5 times already and can't stop. I learned a valuable lesson from this - never, ever send a piece of meat back to the kitchen more than once!!! Should have been obvious, yes. Well, they got me back alright. I am miserable today. I have only returned a steak to a kitchen once in my life prior to this. i do not make a habit of doing this as long as it is reasonably close to what i ordered. i think i will never do it again and certainly will never eat at this place again. Cons: The Food!!! more
