After the hail storm in July 2009, I hired a local roofing company to fix my roof. The roof was completed in April 2010. After one of the cold spells we had in April, I tried to turn on my furnace but it would not come on. I called Applewood to come and look at the furnace. After the Applewood tech looked at my furnace he noticed that the back pressure sensor in the exhaust vent was tripped and that is what caused it to shut off. The Applewood tech climbed on the roof and discovered that the roofers had completely closed the vent for the furnace exhaust, causing the back pressure switch to shut off. This could have been a deadly situation from the Carbon Monoxide being produced by my water heater being trapped by the closed vent on the roof. (The furnace and the water heater use the same vent.) The Applewood Tech fixed the vent and quite possibly adverted a catastrophe in my home from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. THANK YOU!
