Heard about this place from a friend and decided to try it. I wanted to find a place in South Austin that was close to my house. Ofcourse I called first to get a rough estimate on how much they'd charge for a cleaning and they quoted me around 100 bucks. Not bad. Then I get in there, I took my boyfriend with me so we could both get it done and I went first. We did some xrays for about 60 a piece. The receptionist gave my boyfriend a lot of attitude. Then comes the 5 minute ""consultation"" which included a lesson on how to brush my teeth and a very aggressive way of talking to me about my teeth. I apparentally needed a ""beefed up"" cleaning and had gum disease which I've never heard before. I take very good care of my teeth. The receptionist comes over with a bunch of paperwork and the last page is ofcourse the new estimate. $886 is what I'll be paying today. Without the mouth guard around $600. I was shocked and didn't know what to say. I was upset because they charged me $108 just for the ""consultation"" which they never informed me of over the phone. I don't have $600 dollars to get my teeth cleaned...so we had to leave and I ended up paying $230 for xrays and a consultation. My friend who had gone there before said she had the same experience and she had to go on a payment plan just to pay everything off. She also said since she's changed dentists she hasn't had as many problems as this dentist at Urban Dentistry had told her. I feel like it was all a scam and they had no right to charge me more than what they quoted me for. From now on, I'm going back to my old dentist.
Be prepared to spend lots of money here!! They also offer a free micro-dermabrasion or hand treatment if you fill out a survey...yeah I get it, it's a nice touch. I just wanted my teeth cleaned.
And now I have to pay $10 a piece just to get copies of our xrays and sign a release form. First time I've ever heard of that...I will advise everyone I know never to go to this place.
Pros: Parking
Cons: Pricey, aggressive
