Right down the street from the California Train Museum is the California Auto Museum. For $8 you get to travel back in time and check out some very cherry automobiles. This is a cool little museum that is not on the same level as the one near Reno (but hey, at least you do not have to go to Reno). Free parking in the lot next to it, but that can fill up fast. Go early and go often.
