After more than 4 years of going to Holtorf Medical I will be finding a new doctor. A clerical error resulted in my medication running out - I have no thyroid function and have taken meds for this for 12 years at least. The front office never called me to tell me my refill was refused due to time between visits. The time period gets smaller and smaller between visits now, as they seem to be more concerned with money instead of patients without medical insurance. I made the soonest appointment possible. They refused to give me 3 pills to tide me over 3 days. I came into the office visibly shaking, with heart palpitation and shortness of breath. I was refused 3 pills! I've been on the same dosage for 4 years, the dose I had 4 days ago was fine, I felt fine. Still denied 3 pills even though I was suffering. This medication is not a narcotic and serves no function besides regulating thyroid hormone. On top of it all the receptionist was VERY RUDE, her name was Shannon. Dee Dee White, was the doctor that refused to give me what a pharmacy would give me had my prescription been filled there. It is typical pharmacy practice to give a patient 1-3 pills to tide them over. I begged, as I felt very weak and sick. Still refused and laughed at. Not behavior befitting of a doctors office. They don't care about their patients obviously. I've never experienced anything like this. The disregard for a patients suffering and medical needs are not worth the price. They were rude, unsympathetic and unprofessional. I plan on contacting the state medical board.
Cons: Rude staff, expensive, ""shady"" products, uncaring doctors
