You don't have to know what a crumpet actually is to enjoy this sliver of a shop on 1st Ave in the heart of the busy Pike Place Market snack scene (for the record, it's an pastry a bit like an English muffin but less crumbly). After more than 20 years, they've perfected the simple but wholesome meal: a toasted crumpet topped with honey and ricotta, or a more hearty offering with egg and ham. They also sell more substantial sandwiches at lunch, but breakfast is the best time to take advantage of their unlimited refills on freshly brewed tea or a latte for under $2. Grab a book and a mug of Earl Grey, and spend half an hour watching the tattooed crumpet-makers churning out fresh pastries through the big display windows. Way better than a Krispy Kreme machine.
Pros: Cheap, flavorful bites for breakfast and lunch
Cons: Like all PPM establishments, busy as heck in prime times
