We ate at Blackstone last night for the first time. Overall the service was decent with some weighty exceptions. The waiter did forget to bring our bottle of wine out to us and then later gave me a kiss on the cheek!? How weird and inappopriate was that?!
I can get past all of that since most of the food was really good. However, we also received the 35% service charge, which took away from the overall experience. The more I think about it, the more angry I become. Not sure if the charge was applied because we used a certificate from restaurant-dot-com for part of the payment. A 20% tip was expected by using that, but 35%? Come on. Had I been the one paying, I would have gotten to the bottom of this charge as it was presented. However that was not the case and so I will just continue to stew over it.
In conclusion, be aware of any possible "service charge" and don't be afraid to question it.
Pros: Great steaks & calamari
Cons: 35% Service Charge? Waiter not knowing about personal space
