I saw this doctor for my ear, it was plugged with wax. He said there was nothing he could do and told me to continue with the over-the-counter drops and come back in a week. This led me to believe I had to see a specialist. By the time I got into a specialist, who flushed my ear out, permanent damage had been done. My once excellent hearing, is now what sounds like a jet engine roaring in my head. If he would have told me to go to the emergency room, perhaps my ear would have been flushed in time to avoid permanent damage. But patient care took a backseat to him trying to set up another appointment and collect another bill.
