security risk, bad trainers, unfair contracts 3/10/2010

I was a member of this gym for years because it was dead easy to get there from work so I didn't have a good excuse to skip the gym. Having said that, one time someone came through with a crowbar and ripped the 'face' off the lockers and stole everything in that row, including my wallet. This despite having a lock on the locker. The manager at the club was completely unfazed and couldn't have cared less about helping me. I was completely on my own to file police report etc. I also signed up to work out with a personal trainer for a few months and I felt more like I needed to motivate her to exercise. All she wanted to do was walk around the track and tell me her troubles. So in a sense, I feel as though I was robbed again of the cost of a personal trainer since I signed up for a package of ten training sessions that was nonrefundable. The real motivation for writing this review, however, is that despite paying them over $100 a month for years, they still gigged me for $150 to drop my membership, which I was dropping because I moved too far away to continue going there. So if you want to be robbed either by a criminal with a crowbar, a lazy personal trainer, or a corporate contract that makes no sense, go to the Boston Sports Club. Otherwise, stay as far away as possible. Cons: security risks, bad trainers, unfair contracts more
