Better business for the business but not the customer 3/9/2010

I had always thought the BBB existed to protect me if I had been scammed. I now believe it is just the opposite. I had a problem with a auto repair outfit in Castleton. I had spent $800 and 2 weeks and my car still was not repair. I took it to a dealership and in one day and $700, it was repaired. I took the business to BBB court process. Even though I had a statement from the dealership stating that what was replaced by the previous auto repair outfit had nothing to do with repairing the vehicle, I lost BBB court decision. I even stated in this 'court' that the business was in his terms, SWAG'ing it. He was just replacing parts and if it worked great, if not, replace another part. The owner did agree that he had made this statement. BBB gets money from the businesses not the customers. That is why I lost. The BBB makes you sign a document that once a complaint is heard in their 'court', you can not go to Small Claims court. This is not true or legally binding. The success rate for a customer in their 'court' is very low because, once again, it is not the customer that gives BBB their money, it is the businesses that send them money and get that fancy wall hanging. I had thought that if I see a BBB certificate at a business, I was safe in doing business with company. Now, when I see a company BBB's certificate stating proudly and strongly that they are a BBB member, I wonder what they are hiding. Cons: This business is one more
