The staff listen and provide great services 3/2/2010

Short version: I got my NuEar hearing aids from Down East Hearing Care Associates (DEH) a year ago and go back periodically. They are competent, honest, sincere, reliable, available, and customer service oriented. They listen to you. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Long version: I had free testing at DEH in 2001 and 2005. I found then they are competent, caring and honest; that their primary interest is in providing quality professional services. In Jan 2009, I went for testing again. Waiting for my test I saw how caring the staff were with customers. Kim Parrish put me at ease as she asked about my concerns and history. She heard my questions and answered them appropriately. I felt she could do this with anyone. She told me my hearing was now where I could benefit from aids. We talked about options and costs. I said that I was considering purchasing on-line and self-supporting. Kim explained that proper fit in the ear canal can be tricky and is crucial to success and satisfaction, that there are many factors in making adjustments for which professional audiologists have much training. I did not feel any sales pressure, just genuine concern that I get proper services. She gave me some pamphlets showing what to expect if I purchased through DHE and asked me to consider that option. I thanked her and left with the materials and did consider them. More though, I considered what I had seen and felt while I was there: how I and others had been treated. I saw they provide personally sensitive and technically competent services. I made the appointment for the fitting and paid for the aids and the first year of services. Batteries included. I have incurred no other charges. To summarize the past year: their encouragement by scheduling follow-up visits every two months, gently asking what needed adjusting based on their experience of what I might be feeling or hearing, by asking me to come in immediately when I had a pain in my ear (1/2 mm adjustment) or an itching (they provided an ear lubricant), by telling me what a good job I was doing by using the aids 12-13 hours each day (they can tell from the data logging), I have adapted successfully to hearing aids. In short, if you invest in the devices, invest in the services to make them worthwhile. Pros: Caring, attentive, honest, unhurried, professional services more
