I had been using the North Cypress Medical Center lab about every 3 months for blood work for my doctor. Lab workers were nice and I had good service. However, the billing department has made me so mad that I will never use any North Cypress Medical Center services again.
Every time I used the lab, the bill would show up 3-4 months after the service, stating that my account payment was late and if I didn't make a prompt payment further action would be taken. The first time I got their bill, I called them up asking why they were threatening to take further action on me. They said this was a normal billing practice, not to worry. So every time I got a bill after a visit, I would immediately pay it using my bank's online bill paying service.
But, about 2-3 months after the bill was paid (bank records show the check was deposited and cleared), NCMC would send another letter stating the my account was still unresolved. I noticed that each time I used their lab, I got a new account number. And on EVERY account they sent me threatening letter after they had already cashed my checks! Every time I would have to call them and tell them that the bill was paid and tell them my bank transaction number.
However, on my last bill (dated 10/2009), they claim I ""have not availed yourself of the prompt pay... We have no choice but to move to a final disposition of your account."" This really upsets me because my bank records show the payment I made immediately after getting the bill was deposited and cleared in Oct 2009! I called them every time they sent me a follow up bill and supposedly it was being investigated. They are now attempting to charge me $60 for a $5 bill! NCMC billing department may not be the worst in the world, but in my opinion they are very close to it.
Pros: Lab and doctor are fine, no problems
Cons: Billing department may be one of the worst ever...
