My first experience at Stonewolf tonight was anything but what I had expected. Any substitutions for a house saled or a baked potato cost $1.95 each. I asked for bread when we ordered drinks and the waitress looked at me and said, "It comes with the salad but if you're REALLY hungry, I can get it now". Duh!! Then she brought out some cold rolls from the adjoining Dierberg's. Looking over the menu, I then asked the waitress if their steaks were frozen. "Absolutey not sir, all of our steaks are aged 21 days". They must mean 21 days in the Sams Club freezer. I ordered their most expensive steak - the 18 oz. porterhouse - medium-rare. Yum! NOT! it was less than a 1/2 inch thick and slow cooked. It wasn't overcooked but the outside was the same color and texture as the inside - not even seared. (Steakhouse, remember.) They had to have just taken it out of the shrink-wrap and then slow-cook it as to not burn the frozen steak. Oops. They brought the entree while we were still eating our salads. My mom had the ribs and they were fair but WAY too fat. Not cleaned up at all. At the end of the meal, the waitress was fishing for only positive feedback, ignoring our suggestions.
Maybe a decent, expensive burger joint! Haven't tried those yet. I doubt I will.
One more thing - It was Saturday evening and Valentine's Day and they were the only restaurant in St. Louis County with no wait. Now I know why.
I have never written a negative review before but just felt I had too let others know that most the other reviews here are true. The ones that say "Looking at the layout, I could tell it was well thought out..." That has to be a review written by the owner. It sounds exactly like a commercial. Also, the other one where the guy has been there 4 times in one day, if it isn't fake, then he must be used to eating from dumpsters.
Pros: Good Salad - fresh from the bag!
Cons: Terrible Steak!
