I went to Merchant's Tires on Guilford College Rd in Greensboro. My check engine light had come on and I needed them to tell me if anything was wrong. In the past, I was never charged for diagnosis. This time, I assumed the same was true. No diagnostic fee was mentioned and I didn't think anything of it. In 15 minutes the diagnosis was made and it was my converter. This would cost me over $1000 for a 1999 Avalon. As a single female, I wanted to talk this over with a friend. Then they whammed me with a $90 diagnostic fee. It was ridiculous and though I have been a regular customer, I will never go back there again for anything just because I was not told ahead of time about the fee.
