Beware. Make sure you ask for all pricing up front. My black lab got a fishing hook stuck in her side and we took her to American Veterinary Hospital because it was close and we were new to town. They said it would take surgery to remove, though it was just into the skin, and that they would have to sedate her and keep her for at least a couple of hours. We left her and drove home. About 15 minutes after dropping her off they called to say she was ready to be picked up. The bill was $800.00. The dog was wide awake when we picked her up and she had no stitches. They apparently waited until we left and simply clipped and removed the hook as we had expected them to do in the first place.
