Trusted Kennel For Over 5 Years 2/3/2010

We have a sensitive white shepherd/golden retriever mix. I did my homework on kennels in the area before choosing RB Renegade. A person employed there told an acquaintance that this was the cleanest kennel in the area. So, before placing our 10-month old puppy at RB Renegade for her first time, I toured the kennel and spoke with Ron, the owner. I found the facility to be well-run and clean also very pet-friendly and accommodating for dogs as well as cats. When my dog had diarreaha due to the stress of being away from us, Ron got her treatment and he informed me of this. The next several times our dog spent at RB Renegade I called and spoke with Ron to see how she was doing. I brought treatment for potential diarreaha each stay until she was older and used to being kenneled and the phase passed.\r \r An owner should know their pet and what their individual pet's needs are. I have always found RB Renegade very willing to work with me and my pet. This is the only place we kennel and groom our dog because there is a bond now between her and this facility. She is kenneled here once or twice a year for over 5 years now.\r \r RB Renegade offers play times and walks for dogs. Dog owners should pay a little more to make sure their precious pets do not get bored and have an outlet from the stress of not being at their own homes. RB Renegade also allows owners to bring an indestructable toy or rawhide type of bone for their pets stay to relieve boredom. I have read a comment stating a dog chewed its tail. This is a sign of stress. Did this dog owner bring a toy or rawhide type bone for their pet in order to help with the separation anxiety?\r \r There was another comment regarding dogs were covered in feces. Dogs are kept in clean kennels that have either mats or off the floor beds. If a dog had feces on itself, then the dog somehow didn't understand the kennel schedule yet and maybe had an accident inside the kennel area and possibly stepped in its own feces. But, these inside kennels are checked when the dogs are let out before feedings, so I'm confident the feces was cleaned up. The owners just didn't think to have their dog groomed the very last day of its stay. That is important because each dog handles being away from its owners differently.\r \r I did read something about a golden retriever that had some sort of problem whereby it may have needed to be euthenized. Again, I just feel that owners should understand the health of their individual pets. If there is a special condition of your pet, this needs to be released to any kennel facility. If a condition is such that an older dog may not do well any longer in a kennel situation, then an owner should find an alternative placement of their beloved pet with friends or family or just not go on vacation at all.\r \r I'm a responsible pet owner and find that working with RB Renegade with my dog's unique nature and individual needs has formed not only a great relationship between dog owner and kennel owner, but continues to create happy and healthy stays for my wonderful pet year after year. Pros: Professional, Accommodating, Friendly, Trusting Cons: Not Open on Sundays for Pickups :) more
