Fetch buys dogs from puppy mills 2/18/2010

This store and all other mall pet stores buy their dogs from puppy mills. Puppy mills are places where dogs are kept in stacked, tiny wire cages, urinating and defecating on one another and forced to breed so they can sell the puppies to pet stores. The dogs never see sunlight, never touch the grass and never feel a loving touch from a human. When they are no longer able to breed, they are simply shot and their bodies burned. The breeding stock, as they're called, have many genetic defects that are passed along to those cute puppies you see IN THIS STORE. Most of the puppies either already have diseases or are incubators of disease. Almost EVERY SINGLE ONE. Fetch and all mall pet stores are trying to sell you sick dogs for an unbelievable profit. It costs cents on the dollar to ""raise"" a puppy mill dog, these stores are selling you, the consumer, these sick puppies for sometimes thousands of dollars. Ask to see the paperwork on where a dog in a puppy store comes from, if its from out of state, it's from a puppy mill. The staff everyone complains about here are trained to say that the puppies are from a local breeder. THEY ARE NOT. They may also tell you that the dogs will be euthanized if they are not sold at the store. This is completely false. They will cut the price over and over again (while still turning a profit). If the dog still does not sell at the ""reduced"" price, they will give the dog away rather than euthanizing it or giving it back to the puppy mill. A puppy mill will not do business with a store that returns too many dogs. Please, do not buy a dog from a puppy store. There are many dogs available for adoption in local shelters, no matter where you live. There are many, many purebred dogs in shelters as well. Visit petfinder to see a list of dogs in your local shelter. You can also google prisoners of greed to find out exactly how puppy mills operate and to see photos as well. (sorry, no urls allowed in the post) Please, please...don't buy from Fetch or any other mall pet store. Pros: Absolutely none. Never buy a dog from a pet store. Cons: they buy their puppies from a puppy mill. sick, sick, sick. more
