I cannot stand anybody touching my toes, and for that reason I postponed seeing a podiatrist after my marathon last June when I lost my big toe nail. I had been ""nursing"" it myself...terrified to see a doctor. It was going ok until it began to throb one day several months later. I set my terror aside and made an appt. with Dr. Lockwood. She was referred to me by a colleague who has had great success with her office. Anyway, she has this personality that immediately made me feel at ease. I won't go into the gory details, but she fixed my toe/nail and I barely flinched.
