Penn Animal Hospital~My Veterniranian Clinic 12/12/2010

I started going to Penn Animal Hospital in 2004. My son brought me home a Pit Bull puppy ( Lucy ) when she was only 5 weeks old. Lucy developed severe allergies & almost died twice as her airways narrowed due to swelling. I took her to a local Animal Hospital and they did save her life but It felt too big, too impersonal and too expensive. I worked in Bloomfield and would pass Penn Animal Hospital everyday coming home from work on the bus and always took notice of them so I decided to call and 'interview' them. I ended up taking Lucy there for her vaccinations and allergy treatment. I was very happy with the doctor so I started to take my son's dog there as well for her vaccinations plus any other health issues. I've only see two of the Veterinarians & like them both. I just love the Vet Tech, I don't remember his name (I am terrible with names) but I do remember his kindness and gentleness with my dogs. The front office staff are very pleasant & friendly as well. I feel that I've always been treated well and most importantly my dogs were. I don't know if the doctors 'specialize' in any particular disorder/disease but I do know they do not specialize in Allergies or Cancer because they gave me a referrals. So if your pet has a disorder/disease the doctors do not specialize in they will refer you to a Doctor who does. Since I've worked in Health Care for 35 years I look at this topic from that perspective. It is important to understand that these are Doctors and not gods. They are treating patients who can not talk and tell them 'where it hurts' or what their symptoms are. My Lucy developed Lymphoma and no doctor could save her. The Penn Animal Hospital Doctor was kind, compassionate and honest about it. He did not give me false hope nor suggest expensive treatments to prolong her life. That in my opinion is a good doctor who cares for his patients first and making money second. As long as I have companion animals I will be going to Penn Animal Hospital. more
