I take a class named Gentle Yoga at Sundance in Friendswood. It has been a wonderful experience as I have gained strength, balance, and flexibility. The class is called ""gentle"" because we use props such as chairs, straps, and blocks to help ""bring the floor up"" to a level where we are more comfortable doing the various poses. You see, most of us have some sort of physical limitation such as a bad back, shoulder, hip, or knee that makes it hard for us to perform the poses in the traditional way. We still get quite a workout and all have seen amazing results. Valerie, the owner/teacher takes a very hands on approach and tweeks the poses to meet our individual needs. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and Valerie uses lighthearted humor as she explains in great detail how to execute a certain move and why it is important to do it correctly. I am doing poses I never believed I could. If you are of a mature age or have some physical limitations, this is the class for you.
