Happy Hour on a Saturday?
Oh danng, I am SO there!!
While looking for lunch options on a Saturday afternoon, two words came to mind: HAPPY HOUR.
Annnd as we all know, it's pretty rare to find a restaurant that provides the essentials on the weekend. Supply, demand, profits... you know the drill ;[
What up, Tokyo Fro's? I always see your workers on Howe on late afternoons, during traffic hours, holding the oddly shaped fish sign, advertising your Happy Hour specials. Unfortunately, I never paid much attention and focused my anger on the horde of cars in front of me.
I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the restaurant. The decor was very trendy and hip. It was a fusion of traditional Japanese cultural icons integrated into modern art. The menu and the signs were full of sass and the posters on the wall celebrated a mix of the anime and game aspect of Japan. [BONUS POINTS for the poster of Hitsugaya from Bleach ;D]
Amazing values on the rolls. They were very generous with the amount of sauce, fish, and ingredients they wrapped in the seaweed and rice. I recommend the oysters. It's $2 for a piece and it's pretty small, but the ponzu sauce complemented the flavors nicely.
Note that one drink purchase is required for happy hour sushi prices. I got the Tokyo Tea, their strongest drink, and it made me really, realllyy happy during my lunch
