Lastnight my dog Gordon had a "fit" for lack of a better word , exhibiting symptoms of possibly a seizure or worse a stroke . My family , we live in the real world , November 2010 ; you know the one where people are living paycheck to paycheck and sometimes things get tight in the middle with three kids and Christmas coming . Payday was a week away and on payday I would have extra money, anyway I digress . So Gordon is a mess and so are we . I run to the phonebook , call a vet . The day before Thanksgiving , nobody's working . The answering machine gives you the ER's number . I call , clearly distressed . Explain that I think he's having a stroke and could I possibly make payment arrangements to have him seen . Nope . $84 to take a look then we'll give you an estimate on anything further and you can decide if you want to pay to help your pet or not . Now I understand people skip out on payments and it is expensive to treat but I offered my debit card and they could run it on Tuesday ,
