Bankruptcy: I would never - ever recommend HKB to anyone! Every single person that I have dealt with at their firm has been either bluntly rude to me -or- treated me like ""I am beneath them"" and I am bothering them. I am not exaggerating - EVERY SINGLE PERSON!\r
\r
One would think that after forking over nearly $2500 for a simple ""poor man's"" bankruptcy, I could be treated like a ""client"", but not. I was told by a lawyer at HKB that my property was ""not worth"" trying to modify the loan. \r
\r
I have asked questions and received no answers. I called and emailed for the paralegal that was working my case for 2-weeks - FINALLY, I was told she no longer worked for them and hadn't for 2-weeks! \r
\r
My BK is not over - but I have been told that ""someone"" ( a supposed lawyer) that I have had no counsel with - will attend the Trustee meeting to represent me - HUH??? \r
\r
I have had to do all the leg work myself - I don't know what I paid for. I sincerely regret having gone with HKB and wish I had not - and my BK is not even half over with. The paralegal gives one advice and the lawyer I met with for approximately 10-minutes gave the opposite advice. \r
\r
My recommendation: Do not believe the advertisements you see on television. You will not see none of the lawyers as advertised. The only matter of importance to HKB was the payment plan - how would I pay the HUGE amount they require to handle a bankruptcy. I feel as if I have been robbed. They took my money gladly - but where is the service???? Why can't I even be spoken kindly too? Why can't they 'explain' anything about the process? I hired an attorney to help me through the process - and I feel like I paid for nothing - that I am going through the experience - ALONE! \r
\r
Once this is over, I intend to file an official complaint. And, I too will be providing updates of my experience here - hoping to discourage good people from the same experience. Surely there are lawyers out there that truly want to help someone. Lawyers with a good reputation ? - I wish that I had found them instead.
