We cannot begin to tell you how dissappointed we were with the service and the food Saturday night. For the past 3 years we have come to your lovely restaurant for dinner on halloween night. Some of us have been coming here for over 20 years. Our waitress arrived after waiting for a while for our drink order took a few drink orders and left before getting our wine order. I was clear that her mind was elsewhere and this was the beginning of very bad service for the rest of the evening. The 3 drinks came and we had to grab her attention and remind her that we want wine. We waited again. One of the drinks, Absoloute and Tonic tasted aweful. The tonic was flat. She came back and got all confused with the number of glasses and left again without taking back the drink. She then came back and took the drink. Then we waited for her again to open the wine. We ordered the $25.00 pinot noir( 5 something) It was terrible:very bland and flat but we drank it anyway because we did not want to wait any longer. When we told her it was bad and ordered the La Crema she did not respond. We then asked for bread and waited again. The salad and appetizer ordering and arrival went ok. Everyone was pleased with their salads and the soup of the day. Then the bread showed up. It was obvious that the bread was not fresh and had been left in the warmer too long. Plus it was just ok. No character, variety or flavor. This is totally unacceptable for an italian restraurant that had so many years of rave reviews. In addition we had to ask for olive oil for the bread and waited for that too. \r
Then came the long wait. We watched tables that were seated after us come and go while we waited. I have never waited so long anywhere for dinner. We had to go find our waitress to see where our food was. She was never available when we needed her. We rarely saw her and when we did she seem to be bothered. Then a couple of entrees showed up and then 2 more, Then we waited and she came out again empty handed to tell us that the 3 fish orders were all made with salmon when 2 of them had been ordered with cod. She was clearly trying to get us to take them anyway because she could not give us an answer on how long it would take. We waited forever for this dinner and the fish entree was one of the more expensive dishes. The cod is local and I am sure the salmon is not. Because we were missing the festivities of halloween after spending hours at this table we took the salmon as is. They were disappointed.\r
A restaurant of this caliber, with these high prices should get their orders right or at least give advance notice of the mistake and offer an alternative. In addition because of all the waiting, the mediocre wine and the wrong order a manager should have come over and said something and offered us a free desert or after dinner drink for our inconvenience. We did not even get a goodbye when we left. I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant. In addition the Chicken Parmesan was overcooked, tough and dry and way over priced for the presentation. We did have two parties that were pleased. One was the pasta special with farfalle, seafood, spinach and feta and other was the veal milanese.Plus the sauce/broth on the poached fish dishes was nice.. But on the other hand we were all starving and uncomfortable from sitting on a wood bench for hours and just wanted to eat and go at this point. I am sorry to say that everyone in our party of 8 all agreed that we would not be attending this restaurant again for a while. You pay a lot more to dine in Provincetown then in the other towns on the Cape. We come to Provincetwon for the atmosphere and the service. You can usually count on great service in Ptown. It is usually over the top because people are usually happy to be living and working in Ptown. Why is this not the case at Ciro and Sals anymore? Plus, clean your bathrooms. We will miss the ole Ciro and Sals.\r
