I can't believe we paid twice as much money to stay the Wyndham Pittsburgh when it has half the service of a Holiday Inn Express. The only thing this hotel has that any run-of-the-mill hotel does not is beautiful lobby decor and a $17 a day valet parking fee that is not mentioned until after you present your credit card at the front desk. Valet parking is pretty much mandatory considering it is impossible to find street parking. Way to work the system Wyndham! I don't have to pay for valet parking when I go to see my grandma in the hospital, I shouldn't expect to pay for it when I am paying a high price as a guest at a so-called luxury hotel. All the amenities are the same as any other less expensive chain hotel from the room layout to the soaps in plastic baggies. My husband and I were both disappointed, but only because we expected much more. We checked in on Friday evening and our card was charged $100 over the price of our stay. We were told there was nothing the front desk could do about it until Monday when our bank would be open. Instead of a view of the open city as presented on Wyndham's own website, our view was the side of an ugly concrete building. The room was also much smaller than we expected however, the bedding was very comfortable. I am not saying that this is a bad hotel, all in all it was decent and the staff are polite, but it not what we paid for. We expected much more class, but what we got was average quality. This would be good for maybe an overnight stay during a business trip and only if your company is paying for it. Don't shell out money to stay here for a long weekend if luxury is what you are looking for.
