I was suppose to move in to The Woodlands August of 2010. I went and toured the community and filled out an application. The leasing agent said that I needed to come back sometime and sign a lease within 30 days to take advantage of their special. I asked him, ""If I sign the lease and something comes up and I have to cancel, will I be able to?"" He replied, ""Yes that is no problem we just have you sign the lease within 30 days of applying so that it is taken care of."" I signed the lease in April and had to cancel a few days after signing the lease. The manager spoke with me and explained that I would owe over $3000 to cancel the lease. I explained to her what her leasing agent told me and she said he was correct that I could cancel but it comes at a price. WOW!!!!! Tiny detail the leasing agent did not mention to me. Of course, I hired an attorney and don't owe them anything but they really tried to screw me. My friends that live at The Woodlands say that they always go over their ""free utilities"" cap, what a joke, and have been charged so many ridiculous fees. Save money and time and go somewhere else.
