We wanted to plan something very special for my Mother's 70th Birthday this year. She loves really great seafood which is hard to get where she lives. After hearing really great things from several people, I decided to take her to Danton's Gulf Coast Seafood Kitchen. We walked in about 7:00 pm and the place was very warm and inviting. The hostess greeted us with a lovely smile and sat us in a booth. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Everything on the menu made our mouth water. We couldn't decide on one appetizer, so we tried several. We had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, which was all huge pieces of lump crab meat without a lot of filler. (Nowdays, it seems hard to find a crabcake that isn't really a cake.) It came with a delightful garlic remoulade sauce that was entirely homemade. We also tried the Crab Danton, which was amazing! We also ordered the shrimp cocktail which had serveral large shrimp that were perfectly chilled. For our entrees we had the Debris, which reminds me of wonderful southern comfort food. We also ordered the Oysters Kyle and the Baked Crab Balinese. We decided that both were winners, as we cleaned our plates! You know that we couldn't leave without dessert. We chose the Key Lime Pie, which you could taste the real key limes. My Mother chose the White Chocolate Bread Pudding, which she said reminder her of her Mother's receipe. When we left, she hugged me and said that it was the best birthday ever. She always talks about Danton's food, service, and atomosphere and how it made her feel special on her special day.
