For the past year, I have worked across the US. I do most of my work on a laptop, and take it with me wherever I go. I was in Portland on business and my computer died! I could not do anything with it, and it frustrated me to no end. I had a computer technician look at it, and he told me my Hard Drive? was fried. He told me there are companies that could repair Hard Drives, but it was expensive. It was better to just replace it, (and much cheaper). But i needed everything on there... the files, the documents, the pictures. So he gave me the address to a company called Hard Drive and RAID recovery services. I called them, and they quoted me 430.00 or something like that. I couldn't understand how they could quote me without seeing it. They had me bring my drive (which the technician took out for me) to their office. They told me it would take a few days to complete the job. If it could get my stuff back, that was fine.
Two days later. No Hard Drive. No Data. No call.
The next day, I'm ready to scream. I go downstairs to the lobby of my hotel, and behold, there's a package for me. It's my old hard drive, and another one, with a note saying 'put this one in your laptop'. I took it back to the tech, who put it in for me, and my laptop came to life with everything on it... at least i think so. I haven't gone through everything completely.
I was very happy with their service, and happy that they could help me. Although the no communication thing bugged me, I must admit that I didn't call them either. I would use them again if need be, and their price was fair.
