I know several of the stylists who work at Altered Images and have seen the work they have done. They are a very talented and sweet group that is completely spoiled by unqualified and unprofessional management that refuses to change.
Part of being a good manager is knowing how to play to the strengths of your employees. While a cosmetology license may indicate that you can do nails at some basic level, you don't force inexperienced stylists to do nails when you're billing yourself as a high end salon. The client won't be happy because they will not have received that high end service they paid for and your employee won't be happy because a high pressure situation isn't conducive to learning.
But therein lies the problem. The owner is a hair stylist not playing to her own strength and trying to manage. The education and interpersonal skills just aren't there to run an efficient business while fostering healthy relationships with her employees.
