I would like to know why there is such disarray in the pediatrics dept. in Voorhees. I called on Monday morning at 8:30am for a sick child with fever only to wait on hold for 15 min. and then be told there were no appt's available for the entire day and a nurse would call me back. I called three more times throughout the day fearing a trip to the emergency room because I rec'd no phone call back from cooper ped's nurse. They told me they were very busy and someone would call me back. I left them two numbers home and cell phone as best contact numbers. I waited by the phone no call back. I checked my messages several times no message either.\r
I ended up taking my daughter to a minute clinic to be tested for strep throat. I have been bringing my children to cooper ped's Voorhees, NJ since they were born. One 7 the other one is 12. I rec'd a message at 8pm last night upon my return home. A nurse stating they tried calling several times with a message that stated my phone (the one I called them from) was out of service. Impossible. I called my phone company (comcast) to get a list of incoming calls for the day. No calls from Cooper Ped's showed up. I checked my phone history on my cell phone. No history of any call's from Cooper Ped's. They lied. This is unacceptable for a Pediatric Hospital Center. No accountability here.\r
I will be making a formal complaint to the board of trustees, executive staff and The Joint Commission. You are responsible for putting patients first. A trip to the emergency room or any other option to seek care from another provider should not be necessary when I call my pediatrician at 8:30am on a regular week day during business hours. Where is the patient first here? This is very disturbing. I am tempted to call action news and let them do an investigative piece on this problem to see how many dissatisfied and worried parents with young children get the same treatment as I rec'd. This occurred on Oct. 11, 2010. I'll hold that option to see if anyone follows’ up on this complaint. Heaven help the children who have to depend on care from Cooper Pediatric in Voorhees, NJ. I wonder if the head of Cooper Ped's is aware of the consequences this type of response could have on the hospital's reputation and joint commission accreditation. \r
