Stay Away....Bait and switch. 10/10/2010

It was Thursday and I was looking for a sea side hotel for the coming air show. The internet was showing that all ocean view vacancies at the Port O Call were booked. But, since I was in Ocean City at the time, I walked in the Port O Call to double check for vacancies. An over weight receptionist was behind the counter. I told her that I was interested in Saturday night because the Ocean City air show was Sunday. I was surpised when she said that a room with an ocean view was vacant on both Saturday and Sunday. I quickly gave her my credit card and made the Saturday reservation. She also told me that I could stay half a day on Sunday. Instead of a confirmation statment with reservation dates, all I received was a plain credit card receipt . Now I know why. While I was packing on Saturday morning my phone rang. The Port-O-Call was calling to ask why I wasn't in my room on Friday. This plotting receptionist claimed that I had made a Friday reservation for an ocean-view room. But all we had talked about was Saturday and Sunday. The air show was Sunday. Friday never came into our conversation. Also, this nasty receptionist said that all the ocean view rooms were filled during the weekend. Therefore, to get to Ocean City for the air show, I had to take a room with a parking lot view. This room switch after the Port O Call had my credit card was clear ""bait and switch"". The Port-O-Call charged me an ocean-view rate for this lower value room too. I wasn't going to make a scene in front of my family and will just avoid this hotel in the future. more
