Youth & Shelter Services is such an excellent program, especially the Telehealth Services. Nikki Dempsey was so caring and helpful in guiding me as a parent to get a Psychiatric Evaluation for my 13 year old son. My son has been struggling with severe depression for a number of years and I was beside myself on how to help him. Nikki Dempsey assisted me by setting everything up and also checked my insurance company to determine if I had coverage for the evaluation. The medication has been so helpful for my son, he is now smiling and his grades are slowly improving. He is back into activities and talks to me on a regular basis. The Nurse Practioner, Paula McManus, who works for Waddle and Associates in Des Moiens was very patient, kind, and set my son up with prescription medication that was very effective for him. YSS also arranged for my son to receive individual counseling weekly to process issues he was dealing with. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for Youth & Shelter Services. I have seen some questionable reviews with Paula McManus, and I have to totally disagree with those reviews. I will strongly encourage other parents to use YSS and the Telehealth Services for medication management and evaluations. It saved my son!!!!
