Dr. Andrew Brian Blay is board certified in Family Medicine since 1979 and Emergency Medicine since 1985. Canadian by birth, he schooled at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, interned at East General Hospital in Toronto, and completed his training at Lynchburg (VA) Family Practice Residency Program. His office is open Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, and Saturday 9am-12pm. The office does not accept insurance or credit cards, but will accept local checks. The cost is a flat $50 each visit, and you get a receipt. Appointments are available, but walk-ins are also common. His assistant, Becky, an LPN, has worked with him since 1980. They opened the Cooks Creek Clinic in 2002, and both are very nice people. The clinic is ideal for minor illness or injury, for newcomers to the area, for sports physicals, etc. Today, I needed a script for Strep Throat and got it. I also needed info to get a basic blood test at the hospital, and he provided exactly what I need to have the results sent back to him. If you want to avoid typical hassles of the health care industry, this is the place.
