Okay salon 10/7/2010

I had recently written a review on Alicia's Salon and Day Spa. I was very pleased with my hair, at first. I will first start with the positives of this salon. I will have to disagree with the prior comments about them not being "kid friendly". I brought my nine year old daughter in with me. They did not say anything negative or act like they were upset. She was able to sit at a table right across from me and did her homework along with she ate a snack. The services I came in for were a full highlight and hair cut. The highlights are absolutely gorgeous! When the hair dresser rinsed my hair, she rinsed with cool/cold water which is what you are supposed to do after highlights to close the cuticle. Just about every other salon I have gone to, they rinse with warm/hot water (which is a no no). When it came time to the cut, I asked for just a little to be trimmed b/c I was growing my hair out. The hair dresser round brushed my hair and then flat ironed. She turned me around so I could look at the back of it. Everything looked great! I am a cosmetologist (currently not practicing) due to being a military girlfriend and moving all of the time. So therefore, I style my hair every day. Ten days after receiving the service (on a Saturday), I did not style my hair at all. I looked at the back of my hair and noticed a chunk that was missing. No it is not a huge chunk, but it is still a chunk missing. I had my sister take a picture I called the salon after I noticed this b/c I was very upset. The lady that answered was very polite and apologized and let me know if there was anything they could do, let her know. I am not the "type" to ask for my money back and I did not want to go in to have anyone "fix it". Once I have a bad experience somewhere, I will not go back. Two days later, I sent the salon email (after discussing with my sister, mother and boyfriend to see what I should do). I let them know I would actually like a refund and did not want anyone to "fix" my hair. Alicia responded back to let me know their policy about the five days to dispute any problems to get a refund. I'm just a little upset b/c that $36 I paid for a hair cut, was $36 I could have used at another salon to get the cut I wanted. I now have to go back to NC this weekend and have my regular stylist cut it, which is $55. I have worked at two salons in Raleigh, NC that are very high end. One salon I worked at, the owner was named one of the top ten stylist in the nation and the other was one of the top ten salons for highlights and color in the nation. Yes, both salons have a refund policy. However if the client was not satisfied AT ALL, they would refund the money. more
