I worked with Sound Performance to convert my Toyota Prius Hybrid, which did not have an alternator, into an all-out car audio and video system. I could not find anybody else in Missouri that would take on my project. It was such an elaborate installation that we had to go as far as calling Toyota in Japan and talking to senior engineers to get started on the project.
Marcus Schumer with Sound Performance is a very thoughtful and kind person. What I liked about working with him and Mike was their ingenuity and teamwork in collaborating with me. They helped bridge my goals for high sound quality with my environmentalist ideas, making sure that the audio/video would not interfere with the energy system but rather make it as energy efficient as possible.
We ran into some issues having to do with the electromagnetic frequency, and ended up working it out. I had a 300-V system in the car, and we had to add some shielding to keep the frequency down instead of causing distortion. I had product support from other companies, and my car ended up winning first place for basic sound quality at IASCA, the International Auto Sound Challenge Association.
