I had read mixed reviews but decided to try it. It is not the romantic place I had expected. It was crowded, noisy and you literally could not get in the door or even to the front desk to let them know you had arrived, I had reservations. When finally I got to the front desk I discovered why. The male manager was hosting, taking payments, seating and answering the phone and patrons questions. It took 15 minutes to even be able to get to the front desk as he was unable to do these tasks and actually host or even take names.
We ate and the service at the table was ok til the end. The place was super loud and there were children at half of the tables. It is a smallish place, open floor and tables are crowded in together.
When we got to the end of the meal and wanted to take a green tea ice cream to go, my wife's favorite, we were told we could not. I asked why and they said they didn't do that. I was astounded and said you cannot or will not put a scoop of ice cream in a to go container? She had to check with the manager who came over after 10 minutes and said they had decided they didn't do that some time ago. I told him I thought it strange that they would not sell an extra dessert or accommodate their guests. He said they just don't want to do it. He said he would make an exception this ONE time but he did not want me to ask next time because he did not want to have an argument. I had not argued actually and the more I thought about how rude this was after I left, the hotter I got.
I will never go back. There are so many good sushi spots in LA I find no reason to subject myself and my wife to this atmosphere and belittling treatment.
Pros: Food was ok
Cons: so crowded you cannot even get in the door
