dec.30 2009 my wife and i were doing some after christmas shopping. i purchased my wife a brighton purse and wallet for our 25th anniversary which is jan.14. she was unsure which purse and wallet she wanted but was told by the sales associate if she wasn't happy with it she could exchange it. jan.8th my wife decided to exchange the purse and wallet for one she liked more. we get to the store, explain to the sales associate that we wanted to exchange the purse and wallet. because the purse was a red dot item (sale item) we had to get management approval. so as my wife is picking out a different wallet i noticed that the sales associate has left the area. after my wife makes her decission the sales associate shows up and proceeds to inform us that the wallet sku # we were exchanging did'nt match the wallet sku # on the sales receipt. so i'm standing there at the checkout pretty much feeing like i was just accussed of shoplifting even though my receipt shows that i purchased a wallet, purse and charm bracelet totalling over $400.still baffled the sales associate ask did we want to speak to the owner/manager and we said yes. instead of the owner coming to us we instead were escorted across the street to his office. once there we were confronted by the manager who to me made accusations that we had shop lifted the wallet. he said he would have to talk to his wife( aka) the manager before deciding what to do. if he had looked at the purse and wallet that we were exchanging he would have known that was the wallet we purchased because it matched the purse perfectly. the sales associate that made the original transaction wasn't working so we had no proof that we purcahased the wallet. so after paying the difference for my wifes' second choice of pocket book which was $80.more i ask for the wallet back. the sales associate said that the manager had kept the wallet and was gone for the day. jan.9th i called the store and the sales associate that had helped with original transaction answered the phone. as i'm telling her what happened the store owners wife (aka) the manager comes in with the wallet they think that i did'nt pay for even though i had a receipt. tha sales associate tells the manager yes that is the wallet i purchased regardless of what the receipt says. my wife and i make the trip to the store make the exchange pay the $40. difference. the sales associate apologizes for the mix up. today is jan.13 we never did get an apology from the store owner or manager. i think the whole matter could have been handled in a much more professional way. that plus not getting a apology i will never shop there again.
Pros: close to home but will travel100 miles to shop somewhere els
Cons: owner/management
