Finally grocery savings you can count on! 1/4/2010

We gave Aldi a try for items such as milk (around $2 / gallon), eggs (under $1 a dozen), dairy (cream cheese - at or under $1), and produce. Some items have fairly consistent pricing. The everyday pricing on produce is very good. The sales are out of this world! We have tried many different items. We have had pretty good luck with the produce. Occasionally we run into a soft apple. But at about 1/3 what we were paying for apples at the other stores, that's OK. We have had great luck with the nuts, chips, spices, cheese, milk, eggs, tortillas, beans, chicken broth, most produce, bread, bakery and meat. The frozen items are hit and miss - some were great, some just so/so. Didn't care much for the fancy crackers. The soup crackers were fine. The canned beef stew was not of great quality. The point is - give them a try, you'll find out what you do and don't like. Start your shopping day here, buy the basics, take advantage of the deals of the week in produce. I promise you'll save a LOT of money. Be sure to take a quarter with you for the shopping carts. You'll want to take bags with you (or buy them there, not expensive, but it is one of the ways they cut costs.), and take cash or your debit card. Enjoy your savings!!!! Pros: Slash your grocery costs! more
