Don't let the fact that it shares a wall with Lover's Package fool you?if that's a selling point...fine, whatever?Euro Market is hands-down the best place to eat in Auburn.
The place is run by a lady named Yolanda and a handful of employees, all of whom are *European* European, not one-eighth-Austrian-on-my-mother's-side European. They know meats and cheeses like a librarian knows books.
Go in there to get a sandwich and here's what you can expect:
? Bread: Get the rye because it's delicious and because it'll give you the most square footage.
? Meat: *Tons* of options, all of which cost at least $10 a pound (don't worry?the sandwiches only run like $4-$5).
? Cheese: Anything you can think of and some things you didn't even know existed. Every time I look at their cheese spread, I think of Bilbo's kitchen in Lord of the Rings. It's nuts.
? Pretzels: Quite possibly the best part of the shop. Don't go on Wednesday because they won't have pretzels. Bring it in on another business day and you'll only have to plunk down $0.80-$1.10 for some of the best pretzel products you've ever put in your mouth. I like to go for the pretzel roll because it's a big-ass hunk of dough and it's the cheapest.
Remember to:
? Ask for a pickle with your sandwich;
? Ask for a punch card;
? Buy some European chocolate (they have tons);
? Buy a jar of mustard to compliment the many pretzels you'll surely be back for;
? If you're not on a work lunch break, buy some beer (they sell lots).
Pros: Bread, meat, cheese?that's it.
Cons: No pretzels on Wednesdays
