We relocated here a year ago and have been going to the Matthews Animal Clinic over the past year because they are close to us. \r
\r
I admit I was spoiled from my previous vet because they are extremely high tech as well as a 24/7 animal hospital and have so much more knowledge than Matthews Animal Clinic.\r
\r
This place in my opinion is not worth it. Dr. Ann Meadows is very nice but her husband was completely rude to me on the phone. \r

We are moving long distance due to the economy and first of all they cannot find out what is wrong with my one cat who has been having an on-going sinus and breathnig type issue for 6 weeks now and they just keep telling me to pump him full of antibiotics. Then I asked about using an anti-anxiety medication for my cat because he gets very upset in the car. I wanted to make it as stress-free as possible for him. The vet back north did not recommend using one when we moved down here because then the animal is not in control of their body and it can have an adverse reaction she said. \r
\r
So, Matthews Animal Clinic gave me something called Acepromazine and told me to test it out at home first. They told me to give him 1/4 tablet. Well, that did not seem to have a big effect on him and when trying to place him in his carrier for the test drive he completely freaked out which he usually does not do while still inside out home so I called Matthews Animal Clinic and they told me to give him another 1/4 tablet. This was a HUGE mistake. My cat could not even walk after this second dose. I was in tears. To make a long story short it definitely had an adverse reaction on my cat.\r

I called Matthews Animal Hospital again because I was worried about my cat and the second dosage. I was told that Dr. Ann Meadows was off today but that they would have another vet call me back which took 3 hours. The vet receptionist who answered the phone proceeded to tell me that I should try using a pillow case for my cat while traveling in the car. At first I thought she was joking. Well, she was not. She said put him in a pillow case and tie it up. I was so dumbfounded by this. I seriously could not believe she was telling me to put my cat that is already nervous in a pillow case for an 8 hour drive. THEY ARE INSANE! Then, Dr. Walker Meadows called me back and was very rude to me on the phone. He was not even listening to me as I could hear him typing on the computer the whole time. I went through the whole story and he said ""I'm sorry do you have a question about the medication or is this just about the pillow incident?"" LOL! I was like are you kidding me?\r

This place is so backwoods. I feel like I am living back in the 19th century or something. I am so disappointed in this place and do not recommend it if you value your pets safety and life.
