Awesome Staff, Awesome Beer Selection 9/5/2009

I'd been to Lucky Baldwin's in nearby Old Towne Pasadena a few times over the years, and while I was impressed with the beer selection, with the exception of sitting on the patio, the atmosphere just wasn't my taste. This is a place for hardcore soccer fans.\r \r Though the Sierra Madre location has it's share of large screen TVs and sports fans, the atmosphere is more serene - due in large part to the small town setting that this ""village"" is known for - and the fact that the crowd is likely more interested in enjoying a fine selection of quality foreign and domestic craft brews. \r \r This location also has a patio, comfortable seating inside, clean restrooms and an affable staff. They know their beers, and if you are at a loss for what to try, they can make suggestions for you. They also have a decent wine list.\r \r If you eat here, you simply must try the fish and chips, served traditionally with a side of green peas. I usually order mine sans peas (I was traumatized by peas as a child), but the fish is cooked to perfection as are the chips. \r \r As for the beer...there are a number of Belgian brews on tap, as well as a good number of American Craft Brews, English standards and more. They have a Belgian Beer Festival as well as an IPA - India Pale Ale Festival - as well. If you're a purveyor of fine craft brews or are interested in expanding your palate, check this place out! Pros: Knowledgable staff, great beer, delicious fish n chips Cons: A little pricey, but you get what you pay for more
