Spread the Word About This Awful Doctor 8/14/2009

I will be sending a version of this note to the American Academy of Dermatology in order to have Dr. Glenn sanctioned or disbarred. ¶ Here are all the sins I have beheld from Marcia Glenn in the short time I have known her. Be sure to read all the way to the ending. It's a doozy. ¶ - Though I was on time for my appointment, I was in the waiting room 45 minutes before I was seen. I was in the examining room another 15 before I saw her. ¶ - Here's the exchange we had when she came in (I have changed the name to protect the innocent.) ¶ DMG: Well hello Pat. ¶ ME: My name isn't Pat. ¶ DMG: (not looking up from file) Uh-huh. So... we're seeing you for a blemish on your genitals today? ¶ ME: No. You have the wrong file. ¶ She then hurried out the door, leaving me with the unwanted information I had gleaned about the individual with whom I had shared the waiting room for so long. ¶ - I had a rash on my finger. I've had it off and on for years. She looked at it for five minutes then left. An assistant took a culture. Though I have no insurance, I was charged $200 the pleasure. ¶ - I went to one of the big pharmacies with my three prescriptions. I was told by the pharmacist that one of them was not in fact a pharmaceutical prescription, but was for a trip to the phlebotomist. Dr. Glenn and her staff had failed to mention this to me, nor to tell me where to go to acquire said test. ¶ - She prescribed two brand-name steroidal ointments for which there is no generic substitute. When I went back to the pharmacy for pick-up I was shocked to see that the bill came to just short of $300. As my jaw dropped, the pharmacist shrugged and said ""That's Dr. Glenn. She has a reputation for expensive prescriptions."" THEY KNOW HER REPUTATION AT THE PHARMACY. ¶ - I went to the hospital to get drawn. The admissions lady was also annoyed with Dr. Glenn- there was no diagnosis on the prescription, which is apparently a pre-requisite. Also, Dr. Glenn was prescribing HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS of tests for, again, an uninsured patient. ¶ - That test was eleven days ago. I have called Dr. Glenn's office twice since then to schedule my follow-up appointment. I have not received the courtesy of a reply. ¶ - About an hour ago, Dr. Glenn's office left a message on my voice mail. The message was that I had been prescribed a medicine and that it would be at the pharmacy. REALLY SOAK THAT IN FOLKS. After not hearing from the doctor for almost two weeks about any diagnosis, I was told by VOICE MAIL that I had a prescription BUT WAS NOT TOLD WHAT THE PRESCRIPTION WAS, HOW TO TAKE IT, OR WHAT IT WAS FOR. AND... it was sent to a pharmacy that was not my pharmacy. ¶ - I missed this message by about 90 seconds. As soon as I heard the voice mail I called back. They had already gone to the message service. ¶ - I was left to call an unfamiliar pharmacy and ask what had been prescribed. I didn't recognize the name. I asked what it was for. They said it was some kind of inflammatory. They also told me how to get the prescription to my correct pharmacy. ¶ - I then checked online to see what that product was for. It's for genital herpes. Hm. Interesting, First of all, my partner of several monogamous years was just tested quite recently and does NOT have genital herpes. Secondly, I went in for a rash on my finger. Thirdly, they already mixed me up with ""Pat"" once. Were they doing it again? Does ""Pat"" have the same last name as me? Fourth, if somehow I do have genital herpes- I FIND OUT FROM A PHARMACY!?! ¶ I'll let you know how this ends folks. But between this and the other stories I am now reading on this page, I am horrified. I have never encountered treatment like this. ¶ This cannot go on any longer. Please spread the word- Marcia Glenn is an awful, ignorant doctor and must be avoided at all costs. Pros: None Cons: A TERRIBLE DOCTOR more
