This doc came highly recommened. \r
First impression: very moody but seemed nice. \r
Doctor's Staff/Particulary nurse (Kristen): VERY MOODY, some days nice some days very NOT nice! \r
\r
My husband hated her from day 1, but she was nice. My first pregnancy, well...it's your first, but she constantly made me feel stupid when i asked any questions. I was so scared to ask questions during my pregnancy I would sit in the room and shake! But during delivery she was great. But I should have gone with my instinct and my husband's insights and switched doctors. Unfortunely I didn't and as a consequence will have to have c-sections in the future. \r
\r
Second time around was a planned pregnancy. I knew the day that I got pregnant! But NOT according to the doctor! Nope SHE told me when I was due & nothing I said could change her mind. B/c of this error when I was 5 months pregnant one of the screening tests showed that our baby had trisomy 18 (a FETAL genetic issue). We found out months later the only way to get a false positive on this test was if the doctor's gave the lab the wrong due date (either too early or too late). \r
\r
At 38 weeks (according to the doc I was only 36 wks) I went into labor. She made me try and spoke my labor. The next day, my daughter flipped into a breach position. The doc then insisted ""she would move on her own."" And if not they would try and turn her, but not until 39-39 1/2 weeks. It was ""illegal"" to turn them before that. Of course, that was a lie too! Despite being sent to the hospital by the neonatalogist 3 times this doc would NOT deliver or try and turn my baby.\r
\r
Finally a week later I went into full labor, 3 minutes apart. The specialist sent me straight to the Hospital again. Overheard him yelling at the OB on the phone! Stated that my daughter was now so low in my pelvis that it was potentially harmful, as now she was doing her best to be born in the frank breech position. (She had to wear a special diaper to ensure her hips did not suffer ""long"" term damage as a result of this!)\r
\r
When i got to the hospital the OB nurses said my doc wanted to slow or stop my labor. My husband and I absolutely REFUSED these meds. But they insisted they had to give me LOTS of fluid to try and slow the labor. Presumably so the OB could finish out her work day and deliver after hours?!?! My contractions were only 1 min apart and the baby was still breach! *(&^%$#\r
\r
I had a rushed c-section an hour later! I was SO angry with Dr. Thornton! The c-section was totally unnessesary! My first delivery was incredibly easy!!! But thanks to her lying about hospital protocal regarding the gestational age of turning a breach baby, and refusing to listen to ME, my husband, self and our families went through 2 1/2 weeks of hell on earth when the baby's test results came back as a false/positive, (trisomy 18 diagnosis is a death sentence for a baby! Babies with this diagnosis are rarely delivered alive and usually die within 3 days of birth). All because she wouldn't listen to me about how far along I was and then I had to have a c-section because of it too! \r
\r
When my daughter was finally delivered via c-section the nurse exclaimed...""this baby wasn't due next week!!! This baby is probably 3-4 days over due!!!"" Uh, can anyone say ""I told you so!"" \r
\r
I would NOT recommend this doctor is you care about having a doctor who will listen to YOU the PATIENT! \r
\r
PS\r
My daughter is now a very healthy and happy 8 1/2 month old!!!
Pros: a great doc for deliver
Cons: will not listen to you the patient!
