STEER CLEAR OF HUDSON CROSSING 8/16/2009

I have lived in nearly a dozen different apartment buildings in the city and none of them have been so poorly managed as Hudson Crossing. My requests for basic maintenance in my apartment went unattended to right up until I demanded to be released from my lease (they wanted three months rent as a termination fee!). The desk staff does nothing more than gossip about tenants and socialize with their buddies that drop in, and for a 400 sq foot studio at $2450 a month, you would expect a little more professionalism. The area where Hudson Crossing is located is awful. Borderline atrocious. The street is dark and poorly maintained and on more than one occasion, I have been followed home by a mentally disturbed individual (which the staff did nothing about). The most I've ever seen a desk attendant do is yell at me for my dog peeing too close to the building (so much for being pet friendly). My apartment, despite being above the 10th floor, was never quiet and my apartment was located directly above the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel. Within a month of my moving in, I realized that having the windows open would leave a buildup of black film from car exhaust all along the walls. I can only imagine what it did to my lungs, even by New York standards. If you have more money than sense, go to Hudson Crossing. If you would like a place to call home, go anywhere else. I am now renting an 800 sq foot apartment on the Upper East Side with a backyard bigger than my unit at Hudson Crossing for less than what I paid there. My super is fantastic and management amazingly accommodating and prompt on fixing problems in my apartment; the complete opposite of Hudson Crossing I don't think I can make it clearer: Hudson Crossing is beyond terrible. Words can't describe it and I hope others don't have to experience it to understand where I'm coming from. Steer clear of Hudson Crossing at all costs. I would've preferred a cardboard box under the Queensboro Bridge over Hudson Crossing. Cons: EVERYTHING FROM THE APARTMENT TO MANAGEMENT! more
